A Mediterranean-Inspired Outdoor Space

Mediterranean outdoor space

Outdoor living is where it's at this time of the year! We've been cooped up for far too long and our pasty complexions are begging for a little vitamin D. To create that beautiful, serene spot to entertain friends this summer, look no further than the Mediterranean for inspiration. Here's 5 tips to get the look:

1. A Quiet Palette

Think beige, soft blues, whites, and pale greens. Your colors should be inspired by the stunning Mediterranean vistas.

2. Natural Textures

Layer in soft, natural textures. Brick, terracotta, wicker, stone, and linen are all good options. Just be sure that any textiles you use are either indoor/outdoor or very easy to grab and bring indoors during a summer thunderstorm.

3. Elegant Patterns

Look for monotone patterns that pick up the colors you've chosen. Hand painted tiles and a muted stripe bring just enough interest to the design.

4. Soft Lighting

Lighting sets the mood. As soon as the sun starts to sink you'll be happy you invested in a unique pendant light or glass hurricanes and pillar candles. Both options feel sophisticated and give you and your guests that candle-light-glow perfect for an intimate soiree.

5. Potted Plants

Even if your space is limited you should be able to find a couple square inches for a potted plant or two. You'd be amazed how inviting your patio will feel.
